These data products present a complete picture of Canadian businesses. Canadian Business Activities describes concentration of different types of businesses in aggregate by postal code, Business and Consumer Lists enable direct marketing.

Canadian Business Activities
This database summarizes Canadian businesses by:
- Type of postal code (residential, business, rural, metropolitan, etc.)
- Daytime Population, nighttime population
- # of businesses by 2- and 3-digit NAICS code
- Annual growth rate of # of businesses by 2-digit NAICS code in the past 10 years
Businesses (telecom, utilities, real estate, etc.), economic developers and governments use this for economic, community and infrastructure planning.
Business/POI Lists

These lists are provided by our partners and include business name, address, contact information such as phone numbers and email addresses, and can include details such as lat/long, industry (e.g. NAICS or SIC code), estimates of number of employees, estimates of annual revenue, and other flags such as minority-owned, women-owned, Aboriginal, and other kinds of data. This kind of information is used for direct marketing, sales leads, fraud detection, gap analysis, etc…
Consumer Lists

These lists are provided by our partners and include things like name, gender, ethnicity, phone number, address, lat/long, education level, employment sector, home ownership, presence of children or teens, donation amounts, multi-unit dwelling flags, and for sale information.

This kind of information is used for direct marketing, sales leads, anti-money laundering/fraud detection.

Methodology

Data fusion with stratified sampling techniques. Structural coherence is essential in selecting geographic level and the integration process. We have applied techniques from statistics, dynamics, data mining and other disciplines, including multi-staged and adaptive nonlinear methods for dimension reduction, effective statistical distance functions and coherent structural approximations.

Data sources include census data from Statistics Canada, yearly immigration statistics from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Royal LePage’s quarterly Survey of Canadian Housing Price, monthly housing statistics from Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), population birth/mortality rates from Health Canada and provincial Ministry of Health, business lists from directory books/Yellow Pages, building permits data from major municipalities.

Validation and refinement is done via independent data sources.
